Sulfur dioxide (SO2) is one of a group of highly reactive gases called sulfure oxides (SOx).  Sources of SO2 include domestic emissions from fossil fuel burning, industrial emissions and diesel vehicles.  SO2 is one of EPA criteria air pollutants as it can be harmful to people's health, the environment and can cause property damage.
